Trail Love at Bear Creek Regional Park

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

One of Medicine Wheel’s first few trail construction projects was a network of trails in Bear Creek Regional Park. Completed in 2007, the trails came to known as the Bear Creek Terrace. The trails are used extensively by young aspiring mountain bikers from nearby high school mountain bike teams. Since its inception, the trail network has seen an explosion of non-authorized social trails and have begun to erode and become too tame for the more adventurous high schoolers.

High school mountain bike coach and Medwheel Trail Committee member, Doug Bursnall worked with El Paso County Park Ranger Kyle Melvin to develop a plan to improve drainage and add a few challenging features to several of the trails in the network. On August 18, 2019, a team of volunteers and certified trail crew leaders built a number drains and drop structures to both enhance trail sustainability and increase the fun factor of the trails. Additional work days are scheduled for this trail network so check our volunteer calendar for dates. Thanks to all those who spent their Thursday evening improving our amazing trail system.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1214″ img_size=”medium” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
